Review Criteria 2: The introduction’s statement of the manuscript’s objective(s)

BACK: Criteria 1 < Criteria 2 > NEXT: Criteria 3

Criteria two looks at the introduction’s statement of the manuscript’s objective(s).

All manuscripts must include an introduction, however,  it does NOT have to have a topical heading INTRODUCTION. The manuscript should inform the reader of the manuscript’s content and importance for submission and publication. As you review the manuscript, ask yourself, does the author begin the manuscript by laying out the discussion’s key objectives?  Does the author let readers know where she or he is headed, or are readers left to figure that out on their own?
